You Are Invited

In every sphere of life, it is advised that you look before you leap. A careful thought and high level of consideration is given before a decision is made or a project is carried out. That is the reason various companies adhere strictly to their policies. Executives that had put in so many years of experience draw from their pool of experience before a policy is made. There is also risk management department which manages any flaws that could have surfaced as a result of the guiding principles of any organization. In some sector, a particular class of people are recruited for some good reasons and should fresh hands be needed, they will undergo training before they are absorbed into the system if they pass the exams, after the training in some places.



But in Christendom, the reverse is the case. Jesus says, "come as you are". Whether you are rich or poor, sick or healthy, educationally qualified or not, there is no barrier to this call. Jesus does not invite us to follow him because we believe him. He invites us to follow him because he believes in us. He says in Matt. 4 :19 "follow me and i will make you". Jesus knows what we can become when his grace touches our lives. In Israel, tax collectors were regarded as wretched sinners because they defrauded a lot of people by their work but people like Mathew and Zaccheus who did this work was changed by Jesus Christ. Mathew was an apostle who wrote the first book of the new testament. Nathaniel was a bit skeptical and asked whether "any good thing can come out of Nazareth ?" Phillip did not take his statement into consideration when he said "come and see" because his life had been touched. Even after three years of exposure to his miracles and messages, some still had doubts. Jesus referred to them as "O ye of little faith....why do you not believe ?" 



So, come as you are. Come with your self-righteousness or sordid past. Come with your life challenges. No matter how ugly the situation looks, you are invited to come with it. When his presence and power rub off on you; you won't be disappointed, just try and take the first step to respond to Jesus' invitation. Now we are not talking about faith in our own ability, but in "him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine according to his power that is at work in us. The God who lives in us is limited by only one thing: your inability or unwillingness to believe in yourself because Jesus believes in you.By believing in yourself and that the power of Jesus is at work within you, you will see yourself doing what you once considered impossible, for "with God all things are possible".

When you respond to the invitation of Jesus, this power will work great things in you. If you have never considered it, do that today. There are things going on in your life that you do not understand. When you finally get to answer the invitation of Jesus, you will realize that He has been waiting for you to come so that he can make you somebody. He can bless and use you to bless others when you respond to the invitation of Jesus.
